Helping People Improve Their Lives

Wherever and whenever we feed the hungry, visit the sick, welcome the stranger, we are following Jesus’ example of active nonviolence. Wherever and whenever we advocate for justice and help to create a world where people have access to adequate food and healthcare, dignified employment and housing, we are following the Gospel invitation to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly before our God. Our healthcare initiatives are specific to the needs of the people in the areas where Columban missionaries work. From tuberculosis clinics in Pakistan to HIV/AIDS work in Myanmar (formerly Burma), Columban missionaries help people improve their lives through better healthcare.

Columban Sr. Anne Carbon

Providing Healthcare to Communities

St. Anne Carbon, Congregational Leader of the Columban Sisters, was a nurse in Manila, Philippines, before joining the Columban Sisters. Sr. Anne started a mental health clinic in Lima, Peru, then moved to the Philippines to start a nursing home for elderly Columban Sisters. In 2019, she moved to Pakistan and started a health program for Pakistan's marginalized Christian community.
